Registration Details

• $75 per category. Registration includes entry to IBS for you and your model.
• Registration must be completed at the PureO booth (#501)

Eligibility

• Model must have a full head of freshly washed natural locs 
• Must use Loc & Twist Gel only 
• Accessories allowed: beads, pins, bands, wraps 
• No pre parting, pre twisting or partial styling allowed 
• Models must meet eligibility requirements ignorer to serve as a model 

Rules

• 60 minutes total. No teams. Single Competitor Only.
• Model Requirement: Model must provide your own model. Model must have a full head of locs (minimum shoulder length temp or taper no more than 1 1/2 to 2 in on sides before the ear and back tapeline only is allowed). Model must have traditional size locks (no small locs or large locs model should have at least 50 to 60 locks no less)
• Allowed Products: Any products from the PureO Natural Products line such as Loc and Twist Gel, Loc and Twist Butter, Loc and Braid Mousse, etc. (no other brand of products). Products will be provided on site.
• Tools: Competitors may bring their own clips, combs, dryers, and accessories (pins, wraps, beads, bands).
• Pre-Work: Models must arrive with freshly washed, natural locs. Hair should be clean and free of dandruff and product. No pre-parting, pre-twisting, or partially styled work allowed. If you need a cleanup and you still have time on the clock you’re welcome to have them clean up the access but not to exceed your allotted time.
• Finishing Styles: May include buns, twists, updos, or creative designs — but must start from a complete full-head retwist.

Judging Criteria (100 Points):

• Complete Style: 25 points – If you do not complete the style it’s an automatic reduction of the total 20 points

• Overall Creative Concept: 20 points – Style creativity, thinking outside of the box

• Clean Parts: 10 points – No hairs criss crossing the part lines

• Symmetry / Cohesiveness: 10 points – The style should be able to flow together; it should be appealing from all angles

• Proper Retwist and Styling Technique: 10 points – The root of the lock should be flat twisted on base; check for locs over directed in unnatural positions; no buckling and over twisting

• Completion Before Allotted Time: 10 points – Style is fully completed within the time frame

• Accessories: 5 points – Hair jewels and adornment; no added hair

• Polishing and Product Usage: 10 points – Clipping away flyaway hairs; making sure the perimeter is sleek and polished; check for frizz; no pens or thread exposed; no caking or overuse of product
